Can I Help?
Short Film
Synopsis
Can I Help? follows Daniel, a successful architect struggling to come to terms with the breakdown of his family, as an intelligent operating system named Walter attempts to guide him through grief, loneliness and acceptance.
Creative Approach
With visual effects woven into the heart of the story, colour grading became a collaborative process between the grading and VFX departments rather than a final finishing step.
The visual language was built around a subtle contrast between Daniel's warm, grounded world and Walter's cooler digital presence, helping to distinguish the two while keeping them believable within the same environment. As visual effects continued to evolve throughout post-production, maintaining consistency between the live-action photography and CGI elements was key to ensuring every shot felt cohesive and seamless.
The goal was never to make the VFX stand out, but to make them feel like they had always belonged within the world of the film.
